IASA's academy focused on how districts can take an annual standards-based approach to assessing the security of school buildings, grounds and policies returns June 9.
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) provides the framework for conducting safety site assessments based on industry standards.
Why attend?
Participants will learn about the basic CPTED principles and the importance of conducting an annual safety assessment of their district facilities, including: community threats, property perimeter, parking lot, exterior building features, physical and policy driven access control, and interior building concepts.
The academy is led by Dr. Roger Alvey, superintendent of Illini Bluffs School District #327, and Dr. George McKenna, Assistant Regional Superintendent of Peoria County Regional Office of Education. Each presenter has completed extensive training in CPTED and the use of CPTED to conduct safety site assessments.
