Administrator Academy Requirements for Administrators
Any licensee that holds a Professional Educator License (PEL) endorsed in an administrative field who is working in a position that requires this credential for 50% or more FTE is required to complete 1 Administrator Academy (AA) per fiscal year in addition to 100 hours of Professional Development (PD). If the AA has not been completed by June 30th, an additional AA will be required for that fiscal year.

IAA # 3000 – Teacher Evaluator Retraining – Student Growth
This is the required student growth retraining course for teacher and administrator evaluators who are renewing their designations required to evaluate teachers. Participants will learn how to:
Use assessments and measurement models identified by the joint committee in determining the student growth attributable to individual teachers/principals and understand how different types of assessments are used for measuring growth.
Use data from the evaluation rubric, other evidence collected, and best practices relative to evaluating student growth to link teacher/principal and school-level professional development plans to evaluation results.
Create, in collaboration with teachers/principals, supportive, targeted professional development plans that consider past results, contribute to professional growth, and assist teachers/principals in aligning professional development and goal setting to school improvement goals.
Communicate evaluation outcomes and findings in constructive and supportive ways that enable teachers/principals to set goals and improve practice.

IAA #1801- Teacher Evaluator Competency Skill Building – Assessing Danielson Domains 1 thru 4 - Professional Practice
This course will allow participants to learn effective skills and strategies for using Charlotte Danielson’s Frameworks in a summative setting in order to more effectively: 1. Identify evidence at the component/element level during formal and informal observations; 2. Use evidence to effectively rate staff on the levels of performance for each domain; 3. Acquire strategies to support effective collaborative conferencing around formal and informal observations; and 4. Learn techniques, strategies and protocols to use when conferencing with staff. This course fulfills the Professional Practice requirement of teacher evaluator retraining.

IAA #4050 - Evaluator Initial Training and Retraining for Principals and Assistant Principals
Beginning July 1, 2024, this TWO-DAY, IN-PERSON academy will serve as the official training for educators seeking initial training qualification or retraining to be legally qualified to conduct evaluations of principals and assistant principals. The previous principal evaluator training (#2000, #1865, and #3000) was discontinued on June 30, 2024.
To be eligible to attend AA #4050, each participant (initial or retraining) must complete ISBE-required pre-work prior to the training. Registrants will receive handouts and detailed instructions for the pre-work at least one week prior to the workshop.
Participants will learn how to:
Use assessments and measurement models to determine student growth.
Use data from the evaluation rubric, other evidence collected and best practices relative to student growth to link teacher/principal professional development plans to evaluation results.
Create targeted professional development plans to school improvement goals.
Communicate evaluation outcomes and findings that enable teachers/principals to set goals and improve practice.
You must attend both days of this workshop to receive credit for this course.
