Licensure Renewal Open Office Hours!
Licensure renewal opens in ELIS on April 1, 2025! ROE 51 will be hosting virtual office hours on Zoom several times throughout renewal season to provide support to educators due for license renewal this year. Please join the Zoom during the open hours at a time that is convenient for you, and an ROE 51 staff member will provide you the necessary renewal support.

License Renewal
Renewal opens in the Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) each year on April 1. Renewal is April 1 through June 30 with a grace period through August 31. Prior to renewing, all professional development, and, if required, administrator academies must be completed prior to renewing. See the table below for license renewal information.
If you did not work, you will need to update your employment status prior to renewing. You can find the steps to change your employment status here: https://www.isbe.net/Documents/How-to-Update-PD-Employment-Status.pdf.
Retired educators must renew their license to keep valid for potential employment but do not have registration fees.
